About the Ranch

The 320 Ranch is situated in the heart of the Gallatin Valley, just 12 miles from Big Sky (home of the Biggest Skiing in America at the Big Sky Resort) and only 36 miles from West Yellowstone (entrance to Yellowstone National Park).

Our storied history makes us a unique destination and the perfect place to hang your hat for a visit to ‘the old west’. Stop on by – see why people love it here.

Our log accommodations offer a mix of modern touches with old west feel. Our setting in the Gallatin National Forest can’t be beat, trees and mountains abound and wildlife stops by frequently.

Our restaurant, McGill’s, is known valley wide for our unique and hearty Montana cuisine so plan your stop so you can join us in our cozy dining room among Gary Carter paintings and warm log walls. Travel through the original homestead cabin to our saloon and join us for a shot of Montana whiskey or a bottle of fine wine – we’ve got it all.

*We are a drone-free property. Please refrain for flying a drone from/above our private property.*

In our part of the country, life has certainly gotten easier than it was in the early days, even at a Montana guest ranch. But some of the things that mattered most back then are still important today; like delicious, hearty meals, and our staff´s friendly, laid-back attitude.

Not forgetting our history is important, take a look at the photos of our Guest Ranch, right outside of Big Sky, Montana, to get a better feel for why our Montana lodge is more than just a place to stay.

Experience a 110 year old homestead – reshaped into a Montana guest ranch. Relive the early western atmosphere and down-home hospitality – all in one big beautiful, historic property.

Summer in Big Sky, Montana is pretty darn hard to beat—warm days, cool nights, no humidity, and lots of sunshine. There are so many things to do at the ranch, and in the mountains surrounding us, that it’s impossible for us to list all the options.

Options from right here at the ranch include horse back riding, hiking, fly fishing lessons in our pond, or take yourself out to catch the big one in the Gallatin River that runs along our western border. A Forest Service Trail head leaves from right behind the ranch property for some great hiking opportunities as well.

Things to Bring

The mountains of Montana are still pretty wild, and the weather can be wild too. The state motto is “if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute.” It’s always a good idea to dress in layers no matter what time of year you visit. Although during most summers it doesn’t rain very often or for very long, bring rain gear and an extra pair of shoes. Sweaters and windbreakers are also a good idea-it can be in the 70’s or 80’s at the ranch, but ten or twenty degrees cooler on a mountain trail ride. Sunscreen is a good idea, especially at our 6,300 ft. above sea level altitude.

Winter in Big Sky, Montana, is quiet, beautiful, and peaceful, and lots of fun. The historic 320 Guest Ranch is a great home base for a range of winter activities…starlit sleigh rides to our Mountain Man Campsite, snowshoeing, downhill and cross-country skiing in Big Sky, bonfires, snowmobiling, and some great wildlife viewing. Let us know what you want to do, and we’ll get you set up!

Things To Bring
Our Rocky Mountain climate can be hard to pin down sometimes, so you should plan to wear layers. Mornings are sometimes quite cold, with afternoons that can be extremely mild-sun and 32 degrees here is surprisingly warm, especially if you’re skiing or doing something active. Bring an extra pair of shoes so that you have a dry pair to put on after playing in the snow.
