Hotel Policies

This Big Sky, Montana ranch stands out among other because they are warm and comfy log accommodations, not your ordinary hotel accommodations. From a private historic cabin to a cozy room with a fireplace, each are decorated in a Western motif with log walls and windows to see those vista views from your warm, toasty bed. A place you’ll call ’home away from home.

McGill’s Restaurant and Saloon:

We do have a restaurant on site; hours of operation for dinner service vary throughout the year, please reference the ‘Eats’ tab for more information. Dinner reservations are preferred but walk-ins are also welcome. We do not guarantee that large parties can sit at one table; reservation times are at the Dining Room Manager’s discretion. Guests can call (406) 995-3327 to make a reservation or leave a voicemail for the Dining Room Manager.

We serve a simple hot breakfast buffet from 7:00am MST to 10:00am MST at McGill’s most of the year; however, during our shoulder season we transition to a simple grab-n-go breakfast at the Front Office/Desk. We do not serve lunch at McGill’s any time of year (if you book an event on-Ranch, having a catered lunch is a possibility).

Booking Activities:

We are not an all-inclusive ranch; ALL of our activities must be booked in addition to a guests’ stay. Please review the ‘Activities’ tab for all the activities we offer and when we offer them. Please note, our activities are not year-round and all of them will be open for off-Ranch guests once on-Ranch guests have a chance to book. Guests should book their activities prior to their check-in date as we cannot guarantee that the activity, they may be interested in, will be available for a last-minute booking. We recommend booking activities a minimum of two months prior to a guests’ Montana trip! Most of our activities can be booked through our website, however, guests will need to call or email our Activities Department to book a Trail Ride. Call (406) 995-4283 – ask to speak with the Activities Department | activities@320ranch.com.

Most of our activities require guests to arrive 15 to 30 minutes prior to the activity appointment time; please be respectful to our arrival time requests. Tips are appreciated by activity fulfillment staff!

General Ranch Etiquette:

Please do not litter on Ranch grounds. If you have a pet with you, it must be kept on a leash, please pick-up after your dogs and dispose of any waste in appropriate areas. There are common area trash cans located throughout the Ranch, at the Front Office/Desk and Firepit. When the cabin trash is full, guest can call the Front Office/Desk and have housekeeping collect it from their porch. Please do not leave food outside due to animal activity. Quite time on Ranch starts at about 10pm, please be respectful to any neighbors you may have. We do not allow any drones to be flown in our airspace, this includes any event photography. We also have one designated firepit on Ranch, near our Front Office/Desk; we do not allow any fireworks to be used on Ranch. Please help us keep this Ranch as family friendly as possible and allow others to enjoy its peace and scenery without disruption. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

Cancellations:

For non-contractual group guests. We require a 50% deposit to book a cabin on Ranch and a full payment to book any activity on Ranch. We have a generous cancellation policy of 72-hours. That means a guest has until 72-hours to their activity time or check-in time to change their mind for whatever reason and get their deposit or money back. If a guest cancels with-in 72-hours the Ranch will keep the 50% cabin deposit and the full activity payment, but no further charges will be applied. Should a guest need to check-out prior than their check-out date, they are still responsible to pay their full reservation balance.

For contractual group guests, this policy will vary. Please discuss the cancellation policy with your contract representative.

Additional Fees:

Smoking fee, please reference the (Smoking:) section. We have a $25 lost key fee; applied to a guest’s account per each key not returned to the Front Office/Desk within 24-hours. Pet fee, please reference the (Pets:) section. Late check-out fee, please reference the (Checking-In & Checking-Out:) section. Guests are responsible for all damages incurred to their guest quarters during their stay and will be billed accordingly, additionally, guests are responsible for any added-on cleaning fees for cabins left in disarray above and beyond normal standards.

Checking-In & Checking-Out:

Check-In time is not until 4:00pm MST. It is possible to inquire about an early check-in, however, we do not guarantee your cabin will be ready. Please call the day-of your check-in date to get a better ETA of when your cabin will be ready. Check-out time is 10:00am MST. A late check-out fee starting at $50.00 will be applied if checking out after 10:00am MST, with increasements per later timeframes; late check-out may not always be available and is up to 320 Guest Ranch Managers’ discretion. We do not hold guests’ bags; guests should make appropriate arrangements for their luggage before check-in or after check-out.

Turnover/Room Service:

We do not provide turnover/room service at this time (we will not enter guests’ cabins at any time unless there is a maintenance issue). Extra towels and miscellaneous accessories are available at the Front Office/Desk; some items can also be delivered to your porch. We are sorry for the inconvenience; however, we do not provide this service at this time.

Smoking:

All 320 Guest Ranch buildings are smoke free. There is no vaping, cigarette, cigar, pipe tobacco and cannabis smoking permitted within 30 feet of any building. If a guest is found in violation of state law and 320 Guest Ranch policy a minimum smoking penalty of $250 will be applied to their account. Additionally, if there are lingering odors as a result of the possession of cigarettes, vapes, cannabis, cigars and/or tobacco in guest quarters an additional cleaning fee will be applied.

Cell Service – WiFi – Landlines – TVs:

There is no cell service in this part of Montana. We do have wi-fi in and around Ranch buildings for guests, if guests enable wi-fi calling on their mobile phones, they should be able to call and text like normal (depending on individual cellular services). We also have landlines in guest cabins; guests can dial out from those landlines by dialing a (9) most likely a (1) then the phone number. There is no additional charge to use our landlines. Each cabin does not have a TV, but there a select number of TVs that can be brought to your cabin.

Vehicle Help/Shuttles:

Due to liability reasons 320 Guest Ranch and its employees are unable to assist with any vehicle issues. Guests would have to call a towing company. If guests drive beyond our property and onto the Gallatin National Forest land (past Cabin 40), should they get stuck, they should be aware that vehicle towing companies may not be able to come out and help tow them out. 320 Guest Ranch does not offer any shuttle services for any guests. We highly recommend folks bring/rent their own vehicle, if not, there are off-Ranch shuttle services available in the area (reservations required).

Power Outages:

Power outages do occur and are in no-way under our control. When we experience a power outage, we cannot control the length of time it takes to get the power up and running, power crews are definitely working hard to get everything up and running as quickly as possible. We do lose wi-fi during power outages. Most outages only last a few hours, we ask guests to be patient during that time as we do not have many back-up generators. If you have a medical need for a generator during a power outage, please let the Front Office/Desk know.

Pets:

Pets are welcome at the 320 Guest Ranch for $50 per pet, per night. Certified and trained service animals are the only exemption. We limit the number of pets to four per cabin.

Horse Boarding:

We do have limited availability to board on-Ranch guests’ horses during the summer season for $35 per horse, per night. Please book in advance through our Activities Department. Call (406) 995-4283 – ask to speak with the Activities Department | activities@320ranch.com. For all out-of-state horses, we will need to see a Coggin’s Test and Health Certificate.

Parking on Grounds/Boondocking/Camping/River Access:

We do not allow boondocking or camping on our grounds. There is room for one normal vehicle to park by cabins; all trailers, large vehicles and additional vehicles can park by the ‘Rock Wall’ (this is not a climbing wall). The ‘Rock Wall’ is also the area all visiting guests can park at, as it is centrally located to McGill’s, event spaces and the Front Office/Desk for activity check-ins. We do not allow anyone to park on our property over night that has not reserved a cabin with us for that night. We only grant our on-Ranch guests river access from our property line. Please see the Front Office/Desk to know where the best places are to access the Gallatin River.

Fireplace Etiquette:

If guests reserve a cabin with a fireplace inside, they should adhere to the following guidelines: we have a supply of fire-starting chips on the porches of those cabins. A small amount of chips can be places underneath and on top of the logs to get the fire started! We do provide wood and matches for guests; however, we do not start fires for guests. Please do not allow any children to start and/or maintain fires.

Grill Etiquette:

We do provide a charcoal Weber Grill with grilling utensils that can be used year-round unless there is a burn band; we do not, however, supply the charcoal and lighter fluid. Guests will need to purchase their own charcoal and lighter fluid if they would like to use the Weber Grills (they can make these purchases off-Ranch at a gas station or grocery store in Big Sky). Also, guests should move the grills away from cabins when using them as to not start fires.

Coffee:

We do provide coffee. We have different coffee pots in different style cabins, that being said, all of the coffee the Ranch provides does not need filters, so if a guest purchases their own coffee, they will also need to buy their own coffee filters. We have Keurig Machines in our Deluxe Cabins, 4-cup pots in our River Cabins and 10-cup pots in our Log Homes/Chalets.

Hiking/Trails:

There is a trailhead that is part of the Gallatin National Forest, it is about a mile beyond our property line (past Cabin 40). From the trailhead there are a couple options for a shorter or longer hike. We do recommend carrying bear spray and do sell it in our Gift Shop.

Additional Complimentary Games/Items:

The Front Office/Desk has board games, cards, outdoor sports games/balls (for summer) and sleds (for winter). Guests should do their best to return these items back to the Front Office/Desk once they are done using them. In the larger cabins, there are games available in the cabin as well.

Additional Notes:

The 320 Guest Ranch does have a coin operated laundry facility for on-Ranch guests, there is no ATM on-Ranch, but the laundry facility does have a cash to quarter machine in it. The nearest ATM is in Big Sky. We do not have a pool nor hot tub. This area in Montana has a peak season during the summer and during the winter. Our shoulder season is in the fall and spring. We do not offer on-Ranch activities during the shoulder season, nor will McGill’s Restaurant and Saloon be open; this is due to a variety of reasons, two of which are: unpredictable weather conditions and staffing. The shoulder season is a great time to come to Montana and enjoy a more private – quiet time and there are still a few year-round activities to do in the area!
